Lost Buffalo
Our buffalo and its calf left our family and ran away to a forest. The buffalo served our family with its milk. My father is searching for them for weeks and still there is no sign of them.
How did they escape?
My mom takes the buffalo and its calf for grazing everyday evening. But on that fateful day the buffalo got released from my mother grasp and ran away to nearby forest along with its calf. Normally buffaloes does this when they are in heat.
Our buffalo do run away sometimes but it used to return on its own especially when the calf is at home. We normally have one or two buffaloes just to feed the needs of the family, We take them only to our farms to graze them and not much to common grazing grounds in forest. May be that is the reason it might have gotten lost in the forest as they never ventured into forest and do not know the paths.
Searching
My father has wandered all over the places looking for the buffalo and calf. He went enquiring about it all in surrounding villages and asking people for it. Some people gave clues like they wandered here for two days. Sometimes they are false clues and sometimes it is some other lost animals.
How my family took
Besides losing our daily milk, our family routines are disturbed. My mother takes them to graze every evening which helps to get out of the house to wander in the fields away from family gossips. My father brings out the grass bundles in the evening to feed them night, these buffaloes feed all day. I used to feed it now and then.
Coming to terms with loss
We are not able to come with terms with the loss. Losing the buffalo and calf feels losing some one part of the family but yes life goes on.
Transformation of buffalo
I came to know after a month of its loss it has become a wild buffalo. The buffalo has become strong and seem to have survived the forest. It is grazing during the nights, disappearing on sight of humans. It has become a nightmare to farmers attacking their crops.
