Review of pure epluto electric scooter

I brought an electric scooter during pandemic as a mode of transport in my rural place of Andhra. The electric scooter was from Pure company and the bike name is epluto 7g and white in color. It got steel body and looks very good.

This decision is to primarily go eco friendly way as it was percieved that electric scooters are environment friendly than petrol ones and also my desire to move to scooty so that I can train my wife to ride.

Good things about the byke

It feels very light and thin and I can go in narrow gaps very easily. There is absolutely no sound coming out of the bike and it feels like dream. There is a no kick start required for bikes, to start it is to on the battery and drive right away. But you have to apply brakes and remove to provide the accelerator.

The batter is heavy . Either we can charge by taking the battery out or directly to the byke. Riding on it makes some of the eyes to turn for sure. Many people enquired about me about it.

Difficult things

After the initial hype the electric vehicles are staring at long way to gain momentum again. The battery issues and availability of service centers are bringing it down. I will recount some experiences here.

Availability of Service centers

We leave in a place which is far from the nearest service center (70 km away). The traditional bike centers which service petrol bikes has well established network as it grown organically and electric bikes don’t have that.

The pure service and sale centers are closing at rapid rate. This leaves people travel long for less service centers. In Hyderabad itself the kukatpally service center is closed and we have only Miyapur one.

Battery problem

I was giving 80 km of range at start and worked fine for few months. Then the performance started to dip. I went to ask rotation battery as the current battery is only giving 20 km range. The rotation battery worked for some days and give problems . I now moved to urban hyderabad and the rotation battery got bad after that. Finally I have to purchase a new battery.

Other Problems

When it falls into a pot hole the battery which was heavy used to hit top and bottom. And caused lot of problems to people travelling. The suspension was not up to the mark. The accelerator came off while driving and I have to replace it. The seat is small for two people because of its size. When we are driving the bike the used to not rotate smoothly when we move and caused big problem while taking left and right
