Travel Diaries Orlando
I got to visit Orlando as part of the 35th anniversary of Mathworks and this made me realize the importance of traveling. I was very fond of traveling before my twenties, but as time passed any travel became burdensome as it is breaking my routines and leaving me in disarray.
Things to looking to out before departure.
- As long as the name of the visa and passport are same, Its ok if you have a long name and the tickets are not able to fit your name.
- There are a high number of rejections of US Business visas from Hyderabad office. We have applied as a group and able to get through it.
- If you are taking connecting flights, check boarding passes carefully if you need to change airports. I had to do it in London.
- To adjust your body clock better not sleep during the travel and sleep at arrival city.
Day 1
I boarded at the Portofino hotel. It has an excellent lake view and amenities. I had gone for walk and went to sleep early after the tiring journey.
Day 2
The universal resort is a group of hotels, theme parks, and water games. In the center, there is CityWalk where all the restaurants located in between hotels. There are free water taxis available in case if you want to travel in between hotels.
Two things that have amazed me are the food and the culture, I have watched it in Hollywood movies but nothing matches real-time experience. In the afternoon there was a meeting with our CEO Jack little. It was great to see all the 4000+ employees from MathWorks in one place.
Day 3
We had a guest lecture from our chief guest Sal Khan from Khan Academy. He had given interesting insights into the Khan Academy journey.
At the evening we had a cocktail party where a portion of CityWalk is blocked for our company members. The combination of food, drink, and dance made the evening exciting and a thing to remember.
Day 4
I attended one more session from Cleve Moller the founder of Matlab, in which I got into this wonderful world of Mathematicians and Scientists.
The event has ended with an event of Universal resort rides. I had taken Transformers, Fast and Furious and Harry porter rides. These rides will just take you into those particular worlds of Transformers, Cars, and Wizards.
Day 5
It was raining the whole day and I played some Pictionary games with My teammates and left for the terminal.
Its good to know how the other side of the world look, thinks, works and eats. Personally, I have learned a lot from this travel. It took a while again to get into my routines after getting back to India.
